Weds hubby and I had the day off and since it was unusually cool for mid-June in Michigan, we trekked to the Detroit Zoo. It being a beautiful day, many of the animals were out and about! We had a late start, so we didn't get to see everything. <shrug> But the coolest thing we saw wasn't even technically part of the exhibit! As we're walking around, we notice lots of ducklings and goslings. Like many zoos, the Detroit Zoo has ducks, geese and peacocks wandering freely. My husband turned to me as we're watching a wood duck and her babies wander around the zebra exhibit and ponders whether baby peacocks are as adorable as baby ducks. Well, not 10 minutes later we got our answer! And it's a resounding yes!!! Baby peacocks are indeed freakin' adorable! I posted a couple pictures from our day at the zoo -- including a couple of the adorable peacock chicks. More to come later... promise.

Well, I did it. I broke down and bought a new DSLR body. I replaced my Minolta 5D with the Sony A700. I'm still putzing around with it to get a better feel for it. It doesn't want to sync correctly with my Minolta flashes, but other than that, I'm enjoying it. And to celebrate, I'm posting pictures that I took at the Michigan Orchid Show on Saturday with it.

The ferrets who are have posed so beautifully for their portraits are Jimi and Roland of the Underfoot family. The "Underfoots" belong to friends of ours, Barb and Dave. Barb and Dave were kind enough to sit our fert kids for us for the past 6 months. You see, when we moved into our apartment 3 years ago, we were told "Yup. Ferrets are ok." They lied. When a corporate suit came through on a visit for the annual smoke detector testing he saw that we had ferrets. He said the ferrets had to go. Even though they're on our application and lease. F*ckers. So, Barb and Dave graciously agreed to host our "happy campers" for us. My hubby and I have since found a new place to live, closed on it today and will be outta here by the end of the month. More importantly, we'll have our fuzz-butt kids back!! Yay!

Wow. I've, uh, been away while....

So, one would think that with my disappearance, might come lots of new photographs? How about I'm still working on the old stuff?

But, here I am, and feeling much accomplished! I just posted a new photo. Well, ok, new for dev art. It's huge full view though. I need to size it down... I'll get to it... eventually.
